Reviews from Google2.0a month agoPerkins is a chain of family restaurants which has had a presence in Madison for decades. It's the sort of place you go to when you've been working all night and you need to get something to eat for a 2am dinner. I went with my wife to the one on the Beltline frontage road by Fish Hatchery road for dinner around 6pm. When we walked in we were seated right away. The place seemed clean overall and the waitress took drink orders right away. I ordered a Diet Coke. When I got it it was mostly flat and room temperature. I asked the waitress for another and she let me know that they didn't have any ice right now. Uh, what? How do you not have ice? How are your drinks coming out flat and warm? I sent it back and got water because I didn't want to pay for a drink that wasn't worth drinking. The waitress came back and we ordered. I had the Country Club Melt, and my wife had a grilled cheese. The good news is that the fries were reasonably hot and fresh, which is important. The Country Club Melt was a disappointment. Picture somewhat greasy grilled bread with turkey and melted cheese, and nothing else. It was quite bland. I noticed that the background music coming through the P.A. was full of static as if they were playing a poorly tuned radio. That gave me the impression that whoever runs that restaurant stopped caring a long time ago. If you want to go to this kind of family diner, Parkway across Fitch Hatchery is a better choice. For that matter, the Denny's across the street from West Town is a better choice.
3.02 months agoWe live in a state without Perkins. So we were happy to go back to one for breakfast. As we googled it, we realized a number of their branches are now closed. The one we went to was nice enough. We had pancake breakfasts. Service was fast and staff were friendly. But the whole experience felt very mediocre. As we left, we could understand why so many branches had closed. This is not a restaurant I'd choose to go back to. 😕
5.02 months agoBreakfast was delicious and very filling. The portions were large, and everything tasted great. Our waitress Dana was extremely friendly, kind, and welcoming. Our English is not very good, but she patiently listened to us, helped us with everything, and made us feel comfortable. Her excellent service made our visit even more enjoyable. Thank you, Dana! We highly recommend this place and will gladly come back again.
5.05 months agoOur waitress, Jamie P. was very pleasant, efficient, and over all gave us a nice time at Perkins. Our food was brought out in a timely manner and she checked on us several times to make sure we had everything we needed. Very nice. (Love their cookie and muffin selections).
1.06 months agoTook 15 minutes for our server to come take an order, 30 minutes for food to come out just for a waffle and a skillet. Food was hardly warm. Server not once checked on us and was rude but thought she was funny. Never again.
