3 stars because I came here to work. From 1pm to about 2:30 it was pretty quiet—the level of noise I find at most cafes. Then around 2:30 it became very loud. I'm not sure if there were multiple orders of smoothies or something but between the whirring of the blender and banging to empty coffee grounds from the espresso machine, the level of noise became very distracting. I'll absolutely come back here for the waffles, but I won't be back to work again.

Indie Coffee is a charming coffee shop close to UW Madison (on the Camp Randall side of campus). I walked there from Union South (about a 5-minute walk). Safe walk. Indie Coffee is Quaint, clean, with darling design and decor. Historic Madison pics hanging on the wall in frames. Welcoming staff greeted me upon entry. I ordered an iced chai tea that was fresh and perfectly smooth/delicious. While drinking my chai, I watched the staff bring out the most delicious looking waffles to other patrons. They looked so scrumptious!! During my next visit to UW-Madison, I’ll definitely be back again to try those waffles.

I got the Monet Sunrise latte and the Cheesy Focaccia Melt. Both were delicious! Prices are reasonable and service was quick. They have an excellent staff and great music.

Drinks, food, customer service, and atmosphere are wonderful! I highly recommend their fig, goat cheese, and honey sandwich! The price was pretty good for drinks and food items as well. My friend’s latte was only $6 and was 16 ounces (a large mug). The fig, goat cheese, and honey sandwich was only $7.50, and had four pieces! The Twist (caramel vanilla latte) and the Haight Ashbury (vanilla and real cloves) latte was absolutely delicious. I believe the second latte above is a seasonal item. The coffee shop was well decorated and was a great environment for studying. Their patio is nice as well. We will definitely be coming back!

I went on a rainy Saturday. The shop was busy and bustling, but the service was still very quick. The indoor area is small and a bit loud all things considered. If you come on a rainy day or a cold day and don’t want to sit outside you might want to have a backup plan for somewhere to sit. The breakfast sandwich I got was fantastic and the coffee was really smooth.
