The atmosphere was great & so were the cheese curds. We didn't wait for outdoor seating, as it was hot. We did, however wait a long time for our food & it wasn't worth the wait. We had cheese curds, fish and chips, fish tacos a burger & some kid meals. The fish had more breading than fish & the fish tacos were dry - maybe more sauce would help? The burger seemed to have filler, not 100% beef. We also had to park in a parking garage that added $8 to the cost. Would not recommend.

Absolutely love this place and a true hidden gem. View is absolutely spectacular. The wait was too long to sit outside so we enjoyed a table upstairs looking out as the sun set. Reasonably priced for the view and meal quality. This is a guaranteed repeat each visit, no questions asked.

This place has an amazing view in the summertime with good weather. It’s probably not a better place to eat get good views of the lake in Madison. It’s definitely a different more secluded vibe than the university area. The food was pretty good, the cheese curds are great and the other food is typical bar food, which is above average, but nothing special. This would be a great place to go for drinks and appetizers and the summertime. Be prepared to walk down a lot of stairs, maybe an elevator nearby, but it doesn’t appear to be wheelchair accessible. After dinner, there’s a small pier you could walk down and in good weather enjoy the view of the lake.

Great views over lake mendota. Fabulous sunset site. Food was excellent. Great Deck area right adjacent to the water. Fish and chips was outstanding! Recommend for sunsets or just overlooking the lake! Bonus if you're a badger fan!!

Our recent lunch at the Boathouse Restaurant was a truly enjoyable experience, easily earning a solid four-star rating. The highlights were the delicious and fresh seafood. Every bite tasted like it had just come from the water, a testament to their sourcing and preparation. Adding to the culinary delight were the excellent views from the patio. Dining with such a picturesque waterfront backdrop truly elevated the entire meal. It's the perfect spot to relax and soak in the atmosphere while savoring your food. Finally, the fast service was a welcome surprise. Our server was attentive and efficient, ensuring we had everything we needed without feeling rushed. This made for a seamless and pleasant dining experience. For a delicious and fresh seafood lunch with great views and prompt service, the Boathouse Restaurant is an excellent choice and highly recommended.
