Asked for a Mediterranean sandwich and it has chicken in it. As a vegetarian this is unacceptable :( Do not go here!

I have eaten here about a dozen times. It has been a few years. I don't go downtown or pass through anymore. The food has always been great with generous portions. I never had any type of issue with being shorted or an incorrect order. Anyone saying it is pricey must be comparing them to a place like Subway. My experience is it is a very good value. I have never had a problem with staff. If you go during peak times, it can be busy so EXPECT a wait. I will always take a wait for freshly made food. If staff has been "rude" to you, maybe look in the mirror. From reading the reviews, I think there are some people that will NEVER be satisfied no matter what. I have never had an issue with this place whatsoever.

I always have anxiety ordering food especially at new places, and immediately the gentleman making the sandwiches told me I can move over to order, in suchhhh a rude manner. and gave me the dirtiest look like he hated his job and it was my fault? It was my first time at this place and the way the ordering is set up with no labels on where to order really confused me. I asked him for a recommendation of what to add onto my sandwhich and he gave me yet another dirty look and didn’t say a word, just turned around and pointed at the menu. which is not what I asked for. I genuinely won’t be coming back and definitely won’t be recommending this spot either.

If you have anxiety, I do not recommend coming here. Me and my friend went to this sandwich shop to find a it a try, the atmosphere was horrible, the sandwich artist barked orders at us, we have never been to this establishment and we are a little confused. This is my first time here, and my last. My sandwich came with condiments spilled all over and no napkins. Thanks for ruining my day. 🙂

I love Potbelly's Mediterranean sandwich, and the sandwich I got on 5/31/25 was exactly as I remember it with one exception. I don't remember the hummus being spicy the last time I had it, but I really enjoyed the spicy hummus! The two people working yesterday were very nice and made everything quickly. The location of this shop is perfect to hit up after the farmers market on Saturday. It fits very well into the whole State Street vibe. Potbelly offers decent food at a decent price. I just wish Potbelly had more locations around Madison.
