Went here after for dinner after spending the day in Madison. Got the cheese curds - it is definitely not something you want to eat alone! They are light and fluffy “pockets” of cheese, coated in breading and deep fried. Despite being airy, the greasy nature starts coming to the fore after a few pieces and after a while, you might feel like you’re done with it. Overall, something worth trying, but only in a group. Service was good

Tasty Midwest staples. The walleye was very good - flavorful, crisp, and tender inside. The brats were okay but nothing special. Cheese curds were very good as well. The restaurant has a laid back atmosphere, oozing with local charm and regional memorabilia adorning the walls.

Very good experience here. We came on a Friday evening around 5:30 pm, so we were worried about how busy it would be. Luckily it was an off night because we got seated right away! Server was very good- friendly, attentive and fast. Food was good- my boyfriend had the fish fry combo, I had the patty melt (slightly overcooked considering I ordered it medium) it was tasted well and the cheese was gooey. The coleslaw was not good, but that’s a preference thing so I can’t judge them based on that. Beer cheese soup is VERY good as are the cheese curds. The cherry crisp was excellent!!! Drinks (especially the rhubarb mule) were perfectly prepared. I will never have a mule as good as that one was. Prices are fair for the quality. Overall a great place to eat- and it’s right across the street from the Capitol so lots of areas to walk and shop.

Great local Madison food. - Poutine: this is a great dish, a combo of fries and cheese curds plus sauce. 4.6 stars - Grilled chicken sandwich. The grilled chicken patty was juicy and nicely seasoned. 4.7 stars - House burger. Beef patty was nicely grilled. 4.6 star - Tenderloin sandwich. The serving size was fairly massive. 4.5 stars - Patty melt. The onion rings ware very nice. 4.5 stars - Door county old fashioned. String cherry and ripe orange flavor. 4.7 stars The service was quick and excellent. I would rate this place 4.6 / 5.0 stars

A delicious and quality stop for folks in Madison looking to experience traditional Midwest food in a fun, iconic environment that is a unique experience. The food is tasty: check out the cheese curds if you want to try a Wisconsin classic or the fish fry. My family likes the burgers! The onion strings are tasty and differ from traditional onion rings, in a good way. In our latest visit, they were a bit cold, but would be even better hot.
