5.02 months agoMetcalfle’s Market has an excellent deli! The deli meat is always delicious and freshly sliced to order. The store is clean, well-organized, and easy to shop in. The fruits and vegetables are consistently fresh and high quality. It’s a great place to shop, and I always have a positive experience there. Highly recommended!
5.04 months agoA fabulous grocery store! One of my favorites through all the travel I have done. It is local and carries and supports a lot of local brands. I cannot say enough good things about it. All fair prices and a massive selection. Much better prices than Festival and Whole Foods on a much larger scale.
5.05 months agoA very efficient grocery store. It’s midsized compared to the smaller stores downtown and the larger grocery stores a mile away, so this is perfect, most especially for fresh produce. The hot food makes it a good place to grab lunch.
2.06 months agoGood selection of items, expensive. Their broccoli salad is absolutely delicious, all their deli is really. But last weekend, I had waited about 45 minutes in the floral dept. to get an assortment of 4 balloons for a birthday party, the girl working gave me a post-it note with a price for the bundle written on it to show at the register when paying. Once at the register, the check-out guy started to scan the individual balloons (and their weights which were almost $10 each). I tried giving him the post-it she wrote on for the price but he wasn’t having it, looked at me like he had no idea what I was trying to tell him, I asked if he could call the dept. or possibly a manager to help double check the price she wrote. After seeing the total for 4 balloons, their individual weights, and the smaller ones (complimentary that came with the bundle) he scanned, the total was $214. The line was long, it was busy and it’d already been more than an hour, otherwise I would’ve walked back to floral since that was more than $100 over what she quoted me. Left super disappointed, late, and out one hundred dollars.
2.09 months agoI've shopped at Metcalfs for about 30 years. It was always a nice, clean store well stocked with good products, so I was willing to tolerate the higher prices. But since the folks from Illinois purchased it from the Metcalf family it has been sliding downhill. Prices have increased more than other stores and the shelves are often poorly stocked. It's also not as nearly tidy as it was before (note the picture of the seafood counter). It's become just another generic, average-at-best suburban corporate grocery store with indifferent employees and a Starbucks. We've taken to buying most dry goods at the Target next door and other items at the Metro Market across the street....both cheaper than Metcalfs.
