Been a long time Madisonian yet never stopped by this place until the other day. Had no expectations but nonetheless the experience was great. Lindsay was awesome both times. Very welcoming, attentive and personable. We had a great time. Atmosphere was that of a nice dive bar, loved the small town pub feel in a downtown area. Food was really good, had the corned beef panini, it was excellent. And of course had to try the pretzel and it was hands down the best jumbo pretzel I’ve had. If you go it’s a must. Overall I highly recommend stopping in for a few or a bite or both. Nice work!

Did not have a good experience here at all. I walked in with my brother and another friend on a weekday to get a quick drink and catch up. It was a quiet night, and it looked like a great, calm place to stop by. Upon entering, my brother handed over his ID, and I did the same (we are both from MN). The bartender immediately said they looked fake (without much of a glance) and proceeded to show the IDs to a customer with the intent of mocking our group. We were a bit confused at this point, and asked if he would be able to scan our IDs so that we could verify that they were valid. He refused and told us to leave immediately, and threatened to take the IDs and refused to even look at my other friend's ID. None of us felt as if arguing more was prudent to do, but an incredibly disappointing experience overall. A couple of other notes: 1) I read some of your responses to reviews and completely understand that it is difficult to discern fake IDs, and that the city of Madison prefers you look more closely at non-Wisconsin IDs. However, the rudeness of the bartender was completely unnecessary and not at all required. Simply asking for further verification or asking kindly to leave would have been sufficient. 2) By showing our personal IDs to a customer at the bar, the bartender technically violated our privacy by giving private information to an uninvolved party for the purpose of embarrassment (Wisconsin Statute 995.50). I am not very hung up on this, but I do view it as fairly unprofessional. Once again, I understand the current difficulties with knowing what ID is fake or not, but I hope you can discuss kinder ways to address this problem with your bartender. Thank you.

I had a bad experience here. I'm not big into going out but decided to catch up with a few friends on a weekday here as it seemed like a nice place. The bartender had a negative attitude from the start. When we were about to order asked to see our IDs (no problem there). We handed them over, and he proceeded to make a show, showing other guests the id, saying they were some of the worst fakes he had seen. He then rudely demanded we leave, including that he should be taking them (good thing he didn't) despite us offering to have them scanned. I have no problem with the decision to turn us away, but the experience was so unnecessary and unprofessional.

If you have a chance to visit Madison, make sure to stop in. If you are lucky enough to have John as your bartender it will be a great time. Every time I have stopped in the service has been awesome. 10/10
