My first experience at La Brioche was okay. I gave them 5 stars to be nice but with the service we received, it should have been a 3-4. After my second experience today, I changed my rating to a 1 star, which is being generous. Our food was barely cooked, we were charged for cheese we did not receive, there was no pepper on our table and we could not flag anyone down to get us one, so we grabbed one from another table. The service was so inattentive there was no water refill or asking how things were. About halfway through our meal, the host asked if he could move a table against ours so when we left, he could seat a 6 top. We obliged and then felt like we needed to rush. Right before we left a manager noticed what happened and then asked if she could move the table back. We paid and decided we will not be returning to this location.

I had just left Children’s hospital with my newborn. I sat in my car for 20 minutes staring into space, so full of emotions but unable to physically release them. I knew I needed coffee, something routine to help me feel somewhat normal. I usually swing through Moka, always on the go, moving too fast for my brain to keep up - but today was different. I needed steady. I needed slow. I needed to allow myself to sit with my thoughts and process life for a minute. I pulled up my map. I searched for “restaurants with coffee near me” and scanned through the list. La Brioche appeared. “True food,” it said - and that’s what I needed - truth. I headed to the restaurant and went in with the car seat. I immediately knew God sent me here. The decor was so comforting, a cross between grandma’s house and fine dining but the bakery cases and smell of homemade cooking made me feel right at home in my sweatpants, oversized sweatshirt and the look of lack of sleep all over my face. I was seated at a booth and gave myself time. I kept my phone upside down - so bothered by the lack of empathy in the world with the Super Bowl controversy. I ordered and enjoyed a double miel, spooned the froth into my mouth quietly and slowly - watching the cinnamon swirl around and peeking on my baby tot in his seat. I ordered the biscuits and gravy special - and it was Devine - from the presentation, to the portion size, to the incredible flavors of the mushrooms, onions, seasoning and creamy texture - it was absolutely wonderful. I observed the gorgeous tabletops, the beautiful wallpaper, the incredible light fixtures - a display that allowed me a sense of calmness and joy, it was all so thought out and intentional. Pride of ownership shines. I sat a booth away from another woman with a newborn. Thankful to see I wasn’t the only one braving publicity with a small baby. I felt so comfortable. Amazing place with delicious food and treats! Visited for brunch on a Sunday and the setting was beautiful. Pianist was playing, place was busy with a great vibe. The breakfast plate and bear claw were out of this world. Service good also. ❤️

My mom and my favorite spot since I was a baby, when they were located on Midvale Blvd. I remember standing on a stool to watch the bakers decorate their cakes through the window. I have endless lovely memories of brunches here with my mom, family, and friends. 💐🫖🥖⛲️🍰 The lemon hollandaise sauce on the eggs Benedict is to die for. The quiche is creamy and fluffy. My mom adored the Albanian skillet. Fresh squeezed orange juice and a chai latte are delish. Beautiful interior design, unique tea kettles, and a peaceful patio with a bubbling fountain make for a delightful, classy, cozy setting. Servers are kind and attentive. Truly a beloved Madison staple to my family and I!
