Reviews from Google5.02 months agoVery high quality ice cream and courteous staff offered me a sample; I got a very filling Turtle Sundae and they let me pick which ice cream to use for it. My friend liked the ice cream at Kilwin's more than the Chocolate Shoppe. Also, the interior is very spacious and they play music at a relatively quiet level, allowing for good conversation while we ate. They also offer outdoor seating, which we sat at after we ate to smoke a cigarette. Would definitely recommend Kilwin's for ice cream and other desserts.
2.02 months agoGot ice cream on a hot Tuesday night. A single scoop of chocolate chip cookie dough in a dish was NOT worth $6.32. Bottom of the ice cream tub, slightly freezer burned. Should’ve held out for an ice cream sandwich at the Kwik Trip. Cute shop, tho. Maybe the chocolates are better.
5.03 months agoWe’ve been in Madison for so many years now and cannot believe that we didn’t try their ice cream until now! Their ice cream is delicious. Their service is great too and they allow you to custom build your sundae. My kids loved it too. They also have a wide range of fudge related goodies and gift-ready boxes and packs. So much to try and enjoy. We will definitely go again.
5.03 months agoA few months ago, I stopped by Kilwins after dinner on State Street because the smell coming from the store was impossible to ignore. Seriously, before I even saw the ice cream counter, I could smell waffle cones and caramel from halfway down the block. That alone convinced me to walk in. The place immediately felt nostalgic in a way most dessert shops don’t anymore. Families were standing around watching employees make fudge behind the glass, couples were sharing ice cream samples, and the entire shop smelled like warm chocolate and sugar. I originally planned to grab one scoop and leave, but after seeing all the flavors, that plan disappeared fast. I ordered the sea salt caramel ice cream in a waffle cone, and the employee let me sample a couple flavors first without acting impatient even though there was a line forming behind me. The ice cream itself was super creamy and rich without tasting artificial. The caramel flavor actually had a little saltiness to balance the sweetness, which made it dangerously easy to keep eating. A lot of people online mention Kilwins’ creamy texture and rich flavors being the reason they keep coming back. What stood out most though was the atmosphere. Everyone inside seemed genuinely happy, like the place turns adults back into kids for twenty minutes. We ended up staying longer than expected just watching them make caramel apples and fresh fudge behind the counter. Kilwins is especially known for its handmade fudge, chocolate, waffle cones, and old-school candy shop feel. The only downside was the price. For ice cream, it’s definitely more expensive than a normal dessert stop, and I can understand why some people online complain about portion sizes depending on the location. Still, the overall experience felt worth it. Kilwins doesn’t just feel like an ice cream shop — it feels like part dessert stop, part memory-making place, especially on a busy evening downtown.
5.08 years agoWe were exploring State Street and popped in. A lovely little local candy store! So many wonderful homemade treats. They had various chocolates, fudge, ice cream, marzipan, dessert toppings, and caramel! We had a hard time making up our minds everything looked amazing. I am so glad we stopped in. They let you try samples. Awesome staff as well!
