We celebrated a birthday at Johnny Delmonico's. What a wonderful experience! From the moment we walked in until the moment we left, we were amazed at the quality of service and food. The happy hour is a great value. The craft old fashions are Top notch. The seafood was also delicious! Our server, Ashton provided amazing service with an impeccable attention to detail. He really made the birthday experience excellent! Do yourself a favor and request Ashton as your server.

Honestly, don't know where to begin because it was such a treat! The warm sourdough bread and salty butter was a great way to start the meal. We skipped apps knowing we wanted to bring dessert home, so next came the Cesar salad(we ordered a half size, which isn't mentioned as an option the menu). The dressing was perfect, shaved Parm to top it off, and a lemon to squeeze for brightness. Then the deliciously charred steaks came. Grilled to perfection (by the chef of 22 years). You can even specify half-steps of doneness! I got mine medium/medium rare. Garlic mashed potatoes,broccolini, and frites were great. My daughter's lobster tail was too die for. We shared a chocolate cake for to-go dessert. It was rich and flavorful. We will definitely be back and recommend this awesome restaurant to anyone visiting Madison.

Our server, Julio, was wonderful. We were seated in a window spot, perfect for celebrating a milestone anniversary. They brought us comped sparkling wine that was fantastic, cocktails and wine were amazing. The food was so beautiful, I almost cried a few times. Everything was perfectly cooked, seasoned, and plated.

We were looking for an upscale steak restaurant and this place seemed to fit the bill. The dining room and bar were inviting but it definitely looks bigger on the outside than it actually is on the inside. The staff are attentive and genuinely want to make sure you have a great experience. We tried a number of items from the menu. The Manhattan was good but im not a fan of the dry vermouth additive. For aps we had oysters (PEI), French onion soup, bone marrow. All were good but the soup was more like a stew and not edible (staff were quick to adjust from our bill). Split a wedge salad. Huge and easily a share. A little heavy on the dressing but still good. Also split an 8 Oz filet with mushroom risotto. I found steak a little over salted and the risotto lacking in depth. But both were cooked perfectly otherwise. Creme brule was excellent. I would try again because the staff were that good. If the kitchen can make some basic improvements this place would be a home run.

The Winter Restaurant week selections were all great and made the meal more affordable—the food is worth it—just a bit harder afford the full price of dining out with our budget. We both chose the french onion soup and the petit filet but chose different desserts. I added scallops and they were my favorite thing, perfectly seasoned and seared! Everything was nicely done, the atmosphere was lovely, the wait staff attentive but not hovering, they allowed us to take all the time wished. All and all we couldn't have been happier. I only took the one star from the food because I was just slightly let down by the Crème brûlée consistency. (It was the reason I wanted to return, I had it there before and it was delightful). Again, just a minor personal thing, I am already saving up for the next special occasion and look forward to returning.
