My husband had the pork belly from Jap Chae menu. Tasty, but my order of chicken bulgogi was better. He did not have to cook his. I did - it would have been nice to have more instruction/suggestions as to how to prepare how to use the oils and sauces (I wished my daughter was with us.) The server shared information when asked but this was after the meal. I'd go back again and ask for lettuce leaves to make roll ups (something I saw another table had). But two bottles of Soon Hari (plum jinjo) was very good!!

I recently visited Apex Korean BBQ and unfortunately had a pretty disappointing experience. The meat options were extremely fatty, and because the grease had nowhere to properly drain, it just sat on the grill and made everything overly greasy very quickly. The servers were very nice and attentive, which was definitely a positive. However, the menu was surprisingly small compared to many other Korean BBQ places in Wisconsin. I would really recommend expanding the menu and adding more variety/options for guests. For the price of $34.99 per person, it also feels very expensive considering many other Korean BBQ restaurants throughout Wisconsin and even Chicago offer larger selections and better overall value for $29.99 or less. Another concern was that the air purifier/exhaust tube above the table actually fell directly into the grill because it was too loose. Thankfully no one was hurt, but I highly recommend securing or tightening them better for safety reasons. Overall, the staff was friendly, but there are definitely improvements needed with the setup, menu variety, pricing, and overall grilling experience.

Highly recommend! Honestly a great experience all around. The food was amazing, our server was so sweet and even brought a different seasoning for us to try on the food. The restaurant itself is beautiful. We have only gotten to sit downstairs so far but plan to visit again today and hope to sit upstairs 🙂

Fantastic eatery spot, and great to go with friends! Price is typical of an AYCE location, expect to start hitting into the $40’s with tip. Level of heat is very kind to those with little to no spice tolerance. Sauces are unlabeled and not explained by staff. The “spicy” sauce that comes with app orders is very flavorful. Kimchi pancakes are equally as crispy and fluffy. Fried gyoza is solid. Meat selection is pretty good although one of the short rib options was pretty flavorless- I could not tell which one as regular and apex were both ordered and they have no images to match the meats to names nor do the employees elaborate which is which. Plus, that same short rib had a bad quality texture to it. Other than that, the other food selection was fantastic! No tablet is provided for service nor a paper checklist menu, but rather your own personal device is required to both order and pay. QR codes are at the table. Minimal need for employee-customer interactions. Employees are very attentive though and regularly change out the grills as needed. No food safe spray is provided.

Having visited multiple times, Apex Grill is truly a gem for Korean barbecue lovers! While the price may be on the higher side, the exceptional quality of the food makes it worth every penny. The pork belly, beef brisket, ribeye, and short ribs are my go-to favorites—tender, flavorful, and perfect for grilling with a variety of sauces. What truly sets Apex Grill apart is the combination of premium meats and freshly made sides like jabchae, seafood pancake, fried dumplings, and creamy corn cheese—all served hot and delicious. Their kimchi soup is also a standout with its smooth, balanced flavor that pairs beautifully with the barbecue. Don’t forget to try the house-made sweet chili sauce with juicy grilled mushrooms, which add extra layers of flavor to an already outstanding meal. The 1:30-hour time limit is manageable for me, enjoying a satisfying meal while spending quality time with loved ones. I also deeply appreciate the attentive staff who consistently check in to ensure everything meets my preferences and that all dishes are served promptly. Thank you for providing such wonderful food and service in Madison—it’s always a delight to dine here!
